ارزش‌ها و محدودیت‌های اجتماعی، فرهنگی و اقتصادی زعفران در دره کشمیر

زعفران محصولی اقتصادی مهم و دومین فعالیت کشاورزی عمده در جامو و کشمیر است. هند در جهان پتانسیل بالایی برای افزایش تولید، کیفیت و صادرات زعفران دارد. در حال حاضر این منطقه حدود ۱۵ تا ۱۸ تن زعفران تولید می‌کند که تقریباً ۹۹٪ تولید ملی است و ارزش اقتصادی آن حدود ۴۰ کرور روپیه است.

با این حال، سطح تولید و عملکرد زعفران در جامو و کشمیر (۱-۲.۵ کیلوگرم در هکتار) نسبت به سایر مناطق تولید زعفران (۵-۶ کیلوگرم در هکتار) پایین‌تر است. ارزش‌های فرهنگی زعفران به طور مستقیم با اقتصاد منطقه مرتبط است. به منظور بهبود وضعیت، نیاز به توجه دقیق دولت کشمیر به این موضوع‌ها وجود دارد.

Saffron is an important cash crop and second largest Agri-oriented business activity in Jammu and Kashmir. India in the entire world has a great potential for increasing its productivity, production, quality, and export to other producing and nonproducing countries of the world. Presently the state produces about 15-18 tones of saffron (about 99% of national production) which by conservative estimates amount to an exchequer worth Rs. 40 crores. However, the current production and productivity level of saffron (1-2.50 kg/ha) in Jammu & Kashmir is low as compared with the productivity level of other saffron producing countries of the world (5-6 kg/ha). It has been found that cultural values of saffron are directly linked with the economics of the saffron in the region. However, the loopholes in the present scenario need to be tackled with due care from the Govt of Kashmir.
