Introduction. Eating disorders currently represent a major public health problem, distinguished both by their historical evolution and by their current epidemiological magnitude. They are characterized by neuroendocrine, psychological, and metabolic imbalances, which limit the effectiveness of conventional treatments and increase the risk of relapse. In this context, complementary therapies have gained increasing interest as therapeutic adjuvants capable of improving clinical outcomes and patient compliance. Aim of study. The comparative analysis and systematization of clinical evidence regarding the use of complementary therapies such as acupuncture and phytotherapy as adjuvants in the treatment of eating disorders.
Methods and materials. The research was conducted as a systematic analysis of the scientific literature using international databases (PubMed, Cochrane Library, Science Direct, and Google Scholar). Randomized clinical trials, double-blind placebo-controlled studies, and meta-analyses published in the last 20 years were included. These studies evaluated standardized phytotherapeutic interventions and acupuncture protocols in patients diagnosed with anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder. The analyzed outcome indicators included validated clinical scales (EDE-Q, HAM-A, STAI), hormonal and metabolic parameters (cortisol, leptin, ghrelin), and the statistical significance of results (p<0.05).
Results. Phytotherapy, through the use of plants such as Crocus sativus, Lavandula angustifolia, and Withania somnifera, contributes to reducing prandial anxiety, compulsive eating behavior, and serum
cortisol levels. Acupuncture demonstrates rapid neuromodulatory effects, influencing the hypothalamicpituitary-adrenal axis and the hormones involved in appetite regulation. The integration of these methods was associated with significant improvement in eating disorder symptomatology, good tolerability, and increased therapeutic compliance. Statistical data analysis from the reviewed clinical studies (p<0.05) validates the superior efficacy of integrative approaches that represent promising adjuvant therapeutic options with the potential to optimize the clinical management of eating disorders.

Conclusions. Developing a multidisciplinary protocol that combines phytotherapy (to stabilize the underlying biochemical balance) with acupuncture (to control impulsivity and acute stress) offers a personalized therapeutic strategy capable of increasing remission rates and reducing relapse episodes in patients with anorexia and bulimia nervosa.
